2019 – 2024

During my time at Deloitte, I founded and led the Black + Digital team, an initiative created in response to the tragic murder of George Floyd. As part of my commitment to diversity and inclusion, I established this platform to educate, empower, and drive lasting change within the firm. With a focus on education, investment, communication, and networking, we expanded from a 14-person team to a 120-member network, fostering a strong and engaged community. I also secured partner investment to support Deloitte’s People & Purpose commitment, ensuring long-term impact. What started as an initiative has evolved into an ongoing firm-wide commitment, backed by sustained investment in charitable foundations and innovative technology solutions that continue to advance inclusivity in the workplace.

Approach

As we navigated a cultural shift, I sought to translate this change through design and craft, creating a distinct brand identity for the Black + Digital team. I reshaped our proposition and commitment to investment by partnering with Stepladder Ltd, delivering a £25K contribution, providing mentorship, and leading a complete rebrand of their site—reinforcing Deloitte’s dedication to diversity. My focus was on building a strong allyship network, fostering an inclusive community, and educating colleagues through learning sessions on sickle cell awareness, Black hair education, and broader issues within the Black community.

Key achievements over the year included running town hall sessions and flagship events, featuring speakers like Richie Brave, leading external activations at Black Tech Fest to elevate Deloitte’s presence in the tech and diversity space, and building a dedicated team to support UK Black Pride, contributing to the branding and delivery of the event.

Black tech fest

During my time with Black + Digital, I led our sponsorship collaboration with Black Tech Fest, expanding our network and connecting with like-minded organisations beyond our own. I art-directed the booth and all event materials to ensure they authentically reflected the communities we serve and the values of Black + Digital. Deliverables included branded t‑shirts, a cupcake stand, a backwall drop, and a cohesive virtual space, all designed to create an inclusive, memorable presence that amplified our mission and fostered meaningful connections.

Black + Digital

As part of the Black + Digital team, I helped create internal and external marketing for flagship events such as Black History Month and educational sessions, and supported charities and businesses including Step Ladder. I led the art direction for the brand, prioritising an inclusive visual language that represents the full spectrum of Black skin tones. I also designed bold, vibrant assets to help reshape start‑up recruitment and onboarding, ensuring our spaces and communications were welcoming and accessible to everyone in the community.

Live campaign

Diversity in design

I wanted everyone to feel represented, and I expressed this through vibrant illustrations, diverse color palettes, and intentional design choices that emphasized the importance of inclusivity. My approach was bold, expressive, and unapologetically colorful, ensuring that every detail captured attention while remaining beautifully crafted. By thoughtfully integrating representation into every visual element, I aimed to create a design that resonates, celebrates diversity, and makes a lasting impact.
